The distribution of oxygen, carbon and strontium isotopes in Egyptian Cenozoic limestones,
shows that oxygen
and carbon isotopes become depleted in the rocks with increase of diagenesis, particularly
with the formation
of secondary calcite (re-crystallization). The strontium isotopes are related to the age
of limestones younger
than the Eocene and could be used for age determination.
