The study of El Arag section reveals a Middle - Upper Eocene section belonging to the Early Bartonian ( 78 m) and the Priabonian ( 30 m) The Lutetian is totally missing. A new record of thin marine Oligocene outcrop ( 2 m) in El Arag section fills the gap between Bahariya continental outcrops and Siwa marine section. The Miocene section (43 m) in El Arag is equated with Al Jaghbub Formation of Early to Middle Miocene.
