The occurrence of 4 paleosol layers within the glaciogene diamictite Gabgaba Formation has a great bearing on the paleocli mate dunring the Late Ordovician-Early Silurian time span. The paleosol is a good indicator of warn and dry climate which dominated over the Wadi Gabgaba area four times within the overwhelming glacial period. The four paleosols thus, represent four interglacial phases alternating with four glacial diamictite phases. The thickness of each reflects the duration time of’ either the glacial or interglacial phases. |
