The ability to identify the nature of sedimentation and uraniferous provinces from the air using wpe1.jpg (762 bytes)-ray spectrometry is verified in this work. The area- investigated, G. ElSerei - G. ElGir, is underlain by a variety of sedimentary rocks, from alluvial deposits to marine sediments. Thorium and uranium concentration or Th/U ratio determined from the air suggests that the signatures of these elements serve as indicator to the nature of sedimentation or environments. The linear relationship between uranium and thorium is found useful in detecting uraniferous provinces. In other words, such relationship determines the rock units which are abnormally enriched or depleted in uranium with respect to the amount of thorium.
