The XRD and Mossbauer spectrometric analysis of the heavy magnetic minerals of the Nile (alluvial) placer gold accumulation in the Aswan High Dam Reservoir indicates presence of silver titanium sulfide, silver sulfide sulfate, mercury zinc sulfide (meta-cinnabar) and silver sulfate. Gold is present as telluride minerals and entrapped in the magnetite, meta-cinnabar, pyrite, maghemite, and iron oxides after pyrite.

The XRD analysis of the heavy feebly to non-magnetic fractions indicates presence of gold magnesium and gold silicide.

These detected gold and silver ore minerals in the High Dam Lake sediments between Malik ElNaser and Amka favour a promissing placer gold.
