The lithology of the Araba Fm (Early Cambrian), Raha Fm (Cenomanain) and Wata Fm (Turonian) has an important effect on their hydrogeologic setting. Moreover, the structural patterns have their imprint on the geologic setting and consequently the hydrogeologic conditions of the area.
The petrographic studies reveal 7 rock types whose porosities were affected diagenetically by compaction, recrystallization, cementation and dolomitization. The rock units were deposited in sublittoral environment with marine phreatic effect.
The hydrochemical characteristics of Araba aquifer indicate almost brackish water with some fresh water locals of secondary salinities and three water types(sulfate-Na,chloride-Ca,chloride-Na). For the Cenomanian-Turonian aquifer, the water is mainly brackish of 5 water types(sulfate-Ca, bicarbonate-Ca, chloride-Na, bicarbonate-Na and sulfate-Mg).
