Internet, Information Technology, Communications, Computer, Programming and some other relevant terminology are recent methodologies that have been used in certain human activities for decades. Scientific research maybe the first area to be affected by such developments.
The nature of geologic research in general is not an exception. The monitoring of the easiness of use of these techniques depends primarily on financial capabilities, However, with the advent of the cheap available capabilities of the Internet, research technical procedures began to be available too, So, there will be no excuse for denying the benefits of applying the new information technologies on the current scientific researches. As an example for this is the availability of the Sedimentological Society and Sedimentology of Egypt Journal abstract publications from any part of the world. An initiative like this aims at encouraging greater presence for other geologic and scientific organizations on the Internet.
Recent advances in network and communication technologies have made remote monitoring and modification of the automated process possible from home or field, check on the progress of the programmed sequence of analyses, and, using the new data just learned, alter the previously set-up commands to optimize the analytical procedure.
